He likes it!! He likes it!!

Pretty uneventful "routine" day today. Towards the end of the week Mia is pretty cooperative about waking up in the morning and getting herself ready for school. I try to remind her that she's the older sister and has to set a good example for her kid brother. She seems to respond well to this, so I'll keep using it... *crossing my fingers here*. Jacob did a great job eating today - tried some "sweet potatos" and ate it up!!! *Atta boy!!!* Just like Mikey... Jacob will try anything!!

yummy!!

Oh, I did venture out to Calabasas today to buy something for HieRan... just thinking ahead to mother's day on the 14th!! ;) I'll write more about it when it comes about. *shhhhhh!*

I just found out that my sister-in-law out in North Carolina is pregnant again!! This will be number 3 for her... in 4 years!!! WOW!! Should make life pretty interesting for them. We have 2 and I just can't imagine taking care of any more than this. Reminds me of the story how we came to the decision to have just 2 kids.

It was on a weekend, and long before Jacob was born. My wife, Mia and I were at the local Costco looking for parking (as usual). So we happened to see a mom who was pushing a full cart to her car while holding one child on her hip. She was also turning back to scold the two older kids who were following behind her. HieRan and I looked at her, then looked at each other and decided that 2 kids are good enough for us!! *phew* I was exhausted just watching her... and it probably didn't help that I was honking my horn at her to hurry up and give up her parking spot, eh? *hahaha - j/k... I haven't done that in what feels like DAYS now!*
Well, the 4th quarter is about to start here with the LA Clippers vs. the Denver (Booger) Nuggets. The Clippers have done surprisingly well this year. If they advance, they could potentially play the Lakers (who are currently tied 1-1 against the Phoenix Suns) for the right to go to the West Coast Finals (most likely against the Spurs). Lots of basketball still to watch!!

DEEEEE-TROIT BASKETBALLLLLLLL!!!!

Ohhhh yeah! With a 109 - 98 win, the Detroit Pistons lead the 7 game series over the Milwaukee Bucks/Klucks/Mud Ducks 2 games to ZERO!!! They're looking sharp, and will be tough to beat going forward.

RECAP:
“The Pistons used a balanced attack and a strong first half en route to a 109-98 win over visiting Milwaukee on Wednesday and a 2-0 lead in their first-round series. Tayshaun Prince led six in double figures with 22 points. Game 3 is Saturday at Milwaukee. The series continues Saturday night at The Bradley Center.” NBA.com

I know that San Antonio is probably the team to beat out in the west (being the defending champions and all), but that team of "imports" had their year last year. Time for the Pistons to reclaim their championship!!! Sure, maybe I'm looking a bit too far ahead... there's still Miami to deal with and they've had success over Detroit in the past. Well, I'm sure as the playoffs unfold there'll be more to say...

For my viewing pleasure...

Okay, so I said I'd list the shows that I watch, including those that I TiVo. Here it is:

- The West Wing (final season... *sniff*)
- CSI (the original can't be beat)
- The Office (mindless humor... but less violent than MXC)
- My Name is Earl (... I'm just trying to be a better person)
- How I Met Your Mother (excellent writing... really!)
- LOST (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42... [EXECUTE] need I say more?)
- HEIST (a new show with layers of plots and double crosses)
- The Apprentice (you're ALL fired!!)
- Mind of Mencia (oh man, this show has me laughing for days!!)
- ALIAS (final season for this one too... *sigh*)
- NBA Playoffs (I have to apologize to my family for abandoning them during this time of year... GO PISTONS!!!)

If I'm flipping through the channels and happen to catch a poker show (whether it's the WSOP on ESPN, WPT on the Travel Channel, or High Stakes Poker on GSN) I'll sit and watch for a bit. There are handfuls of reality shows out there that I'll "catch", but wouldn't put them on my regular viewing list. No need to mention them... right?

Any other shows you'd recommend? I've been told to see VH1's Best Week Ever, which keeps tabs on pop culture. And I always ALWAYS get a good laugh from MXC... (dang, some Asians will do ANYTHING, won't they?).

Back to the grind

Today started off as most Mondays do here. Waking up around 6am to watch the news, then negotiating with Ms. Mia at 7:00am, convincing her that it IS morning, and that she DOES have to go to school today. I can only imagine what these conversations are going to be like when she becomes a teenager! :-S But after missing an entire week of school, I can certainly understand her wanting to sleep in again. Last week was a blur...

quick flashback:

We received word last Saturday that my wife's grandmother was sick, and in the hospital. We drove up to the Bay Area to go and visit her, hoping that this wouldn't be our last visit. Unfortunately, her condition worsened and she passed away early Wednesday morning. We extended our stay thru Friday to say our last good-byes and be with the family.

Mrs. Kim lived 90 years of life, and is survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was loved dearly by all who knew her and she will be missed. Thank you for sharing your love and happiness with us.

So after spending a week in a hotel sleeping-in, I can understand how difficult it was for Mia to get up today. But she was fine after breakfast, and ready for a productive day at pre-school.

Jacob and I went to pick her up after lunch, then proceeded to meet with one of her friends at the park for their play-date. After about an hour, the weather started getting cold, so we packed it up and headed home. Good thing, too... Jacob managed to fill up yet ANOTHER diaper! Yeah, I know that seems disgusting, but man... that's my boy!!

The Apprentice: (after thoughts)
Andrea deserves to be fired! What is it about her speaking voice that I find annoying? She's soft-spoken, and I can't imagine her representing any of Mr. Trump's organizations. Oh, that look on her face after Mr. Trump fired her (one of shock and awe)... priceless. He didn't even wait for the Project Manager to bring her back into the boardroom. And what's with her yellow eye shadow?!? *ewwww.... yuck!*

Any new shows out there that I should be watching?!?! Yes, VH1's "Best Week Ever" is on my list, Kimmy - thx! I'll share what I've been watching and TiVo-ing in my next post so stay tuned... *har har... a little television humor there*.

Okay, so it's been a while since I've posted here, and I was reminded to keep writing so that the viewing public can keep up with our move to Southern California (yeah, that's right, I'm talking to YOU, B&K!!). *grrrr... curse you for making me write again - ;) j/k*

Lots has happened since last I wrote (which I can't really remember since I haven't even read my blog in a while... :-T). Well, I know I haven't written about the newest addition to our family - Mr. Jacob, born in November of 2005 (YES! I have a SON!! *whooo-hoooo!!*).

We've also been blessed with many visits from friends and family alike - including a certain newlywed couple (you know who you are) fresh from their 1 month European World Tour/Honeymoon. Now I hear they're setting up their Asian tour for later this year - true world travellers, indeed. I guess it's not the same as going to Las Vegas and touring the "world" within a 12 block radius, eh? :-S

A visit from my brothers and cousins proved to be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, we were so glad to see everyone and be surrounded by all the love and laughter that we've enjoyed (but took for granted) during our years in Northern California. On the OTHER hand, cooking for 14 mouths is a task I won't soon take on again... thank goodness it was only breakfast!!

So now I'm back online again, and I'll see about keeping up with my blog here. In truth, I've really been busy with the 2 kids, and also writing separate journals for my daughter (now 4 years old) and son. I know that's no excuse (geez, tough crowd) so I'll do my best to post every week or so.

TTFN!!
